Melancholy In E♭ Minor
My heart is an abandoned nest in a leafless winter tree, in a dying forest devoid of life beneath a lightless sky. Black as pitch and barely beating pumping tar like blood, through spider veins and arteries to organs craving rest.
My body is a parody of what it used to be. A weakened husk, a broken wreck, a vessel of regret. Subjected to agony, a gallery of hurt, pain is all I know. I am a prison of flesh and bone.
There are no beasts underneath my bed for they all reside inside my head.
Once full of light and full of life I knew only hope and joy. Darkness fell and never left and all faith was destroyed. Corrupted by despondency, blemished by despair, disenchanted and forlorn my existence is impaired.
Defeated by my body and defeated by my mind. Existing on a precipice, survival is a grind. There is no pride in suffering, misery is not profound. I do not wish to die but I want the pain to end.
There are no beasts underneath my bed for they all reside inside my head.
Haunted by the ghosts of my deep and distant past. Tormented by the demons I failed to exorcise. Traumatic skeletons crawl around inside my mind. The black dog scratches at my door each and every night.
